I want this thing more every time I see it, althoug I'm almost 100 percent sure there's more here than meets the eye, but it sure looks like a good idea, right? The more I think about it the more I wanna sell my truck and buy the bad boy, what's your opinion, is it worth it?

For reference my truck is a 1998 Chevrolet C1500 W/T, literally everything this is not. They both have 6 cylinder engines with 250000+ miles, both probably have relatively the same storage capacity, but the kicker is, the wagon has AWD, A/C, Leather seats, power windows, power seats, cruise control, and a moon roof, my truck has none of those. But mainly I've been looking for something that would be more reliable than my truck, which recently has been become questionable. But I'm not exactly well versed in early 90s Mercedes-Benzs, so if anybody could shed some light for me, that would be fantastic. Thanks!

Do you know how scary the front springs look on these?

It is factory, but I can't comment on the durabilty of their suspension since I've never owned one.

I don't know if I'd place faith in a design that looks like this, but maybe someone else on oppo can chime in.

If this is W124 I had one - lots of small problems not related to the 3 liter diesel inline 6 ... although it ate its trap oxidizer and turbo (and Mercedes picked up the cost, to be fair). I note 2 different stock wheels on the car. Buy carefully, and get a good mechanic to evaluate it.

I've read about several owners having well over 200000 miles on these cars without any major mechanical issues, but I'd rather not take the word of a few anecdotes on something I'd have to sell my truck to buy. Thank you for that picture though, the more you know...

Good eye, I hadn't noticed the wheel before, and that's why I posted here, I've never been much of one to spend my money, so I want to see this from every angle I can before I even think of buying it. Thank you.

What the hell? Do we know why it was like that?

De nada - not a problem. I looked at my W124 nearly every day for 4 plus years. At this point those cars are nearing 25-30 years old. You have to check everything.

Easiest way to fit the axles needed for awd in a rwd platform,

As far as I can tell, the 4matic was just a lazy afterthought to make mercedes' lineup look bigger.

Yeah, I'm no stranger to daily checks, my truck isn't exactly a spring chicken and living in Northwest Pennsylvania the roads take a nasty toll on things.
